Kataka Teacher’s Organ Donation Saves Three Lives

On Teachers’ Day, tragedy struck when Pratap Kumar Rout, a 47‑year‑old government school teacher from Kumarabasta High School in Khordha district, collapsed from a brain stroke.

Despite three days of treatment at a private hospital, he passed away.

In a remarkable act of humanity, his family decided to donate his liver and both eyes, saving or improving the lives of three patients.

Rout, remembered as a dedicated educator, is survived by his wife and two sons.

His last rites will be performed in his ancestral village.

The Kumarabasta High School community mourns his loss, while locals and social workers have hailed his organ donation as a noble example of selflessness.

A Guard of Honour will be given at the hospital in recognition of his contribution.
