Odia Law Student Found Dead in Lonavala Gorge After Trekking Alone
Mumbai/Lonavala: A tragic incident has shaken the Odia community in Mumbai after 20‑year‑old law student Shreya Narendra Pati was found dead in a gorge in Lonavala.
According to police, Shreya had gone trekking in the Lonavala–Khandala region on January 31 but failed to return home that evening. Her phone was switched off, raising alarm among her family.
A breakthrough came when a local shopkeeper discovered her bag containing identity documents, prompting her relatives to alert authorities.
A massive search operation followed, involving drones and a dog squad, across the rugged terrain of the popular trekking destination. After 36 hours of relentless effort, police recovered her body from a gorge nearly 400 feet deep.
Investigators are now probing whether Shreya was trekking alone or accompanied, as questions arise about safety measures in the area.
The incident has sparked concern among trekkers and residents about the risks in Lonavala’s scenic but treacherous trails.
