Odisha Speaker Calls All‑Party Meet Ahead of Monsoon Session

Bhubaneswar, Sept 21: Ahead of the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s Monsoon Session, Speaker Surama Padhy has convened an all‑party meeting to ensure smooth proceedings and cooperation between ruling and opposition members.

The session, scheduled from September 22 to October 3, will primarily focus on government business, with September 26 reserved for Private Members’ Bills and Resolutions.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, the Leader of Opposition, Congress Legislature Party leader, and party whips are expected to attend the meeting.

The BJD Legislature Party will meet later today, while the Congress Legislature Party is set to gather tomorrow morning to finalise their strategies.

Opposition parties are likely to raise issues including the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, alleged textbook printing errors, and concerns over law and order.

Security has been tightened around the Assembly, with 36 platoons of police and over 150 officers deployed to maintain order during the session.
