The Kolkata Commissionerate Police has announced extensive traffic restrictions and diversions across the city on November 11 in view of the Kali Puja immersion processions.
The special traffic arrangement will come into effect from 7 AM and remain operational until the completion of the immersion ceremonies.
According to the police, the restrictions have been imposed to ensure smooth movement of immersion processions, maintain public order, and facilitate hassle-free traffic management during one of the city’s largest annual religious events.
Several major roads and intersections in the city, including College Square, CDA Market Complex, Malgodown, Pilgrim Road, Ranihat, Mangalabag, Buxi Bazar, High Court Square, and Khan Nagar, will witness restrictions and diversions during the immersion process.
Vehicles approaching key junctions such as OMP Square, Malgodown, and Mochi Sahi will be diverted through alternative routes identified by the police.
Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid congestion-prone areas during the festival.
To accommodate visitors and devotees, the police have designated multiple parking zones across the city.
These include Bellview Square, Ravenshaw Collegiate School Field, Bidanasi High School, Christian Ground, Upper Bali Jatra Ground, Old Puri Bus Stand, Old Badambadi Bus Stand, the INOX Area, Shaheed Bhavan, and designated spaces near College Square and the Clock Tower.
The Commissionerate Police has appealed to citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel, adhere to diversion guidelines, and utilise designated parking areas to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the Kali Puja immersion festivities.
