Naveen Patnaik Mourns Jaspal Rana’s Demise

Bhubaneswar: Former  Minister and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has expressed profound grief over the demise of ace shooter and Asian Games gold medallist Jaspal Rana.

Patnaik described Rana as a mentor who inspired generations of sportsmen and brought immense pride to India through his achievements.

“His passing is a deep loss to the sports fraternity,” Patnaik said, extending condolences to Rana’s family, friends, and admirers.

Rana, who was serving as India’s high‑performance coach for pistol shooters, reportedly experienced discomfort while returning from the ISSF World Cup in Munich.

After landing in New Delhi, he was admitted to Max Hospital, Saket, where doctors identified a cardiac blockage and inserted a stent.

A second procedure was planned, but despite initial reports of recovery, news of his death emerged on Friday morning.

The sports community and the nation mourn the loss of a champion whose legacy will continue to inspire future athletes.
