Odisha to Provide Free Education from KG to PG: CM Majhi

In a landmark declaration, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that education in the state will be free from kindergarten to postgraduate (KG to PG) level.

The announcement, made during the second anniversary of his government, positions Odisha as the first state in India to implement such a comprehensive free education policy.

Majhi emphasised that the initiative aims to remove financial barriers for students, particularly those from economically weaker sections, ensuring universal access to education.

He described the move as transformative, making education a right rather than a privilege.

Highlighting his government’s achievements, Majhi noted that 121 schemes have been rolled out in two years under the “double‑engine government” model, focusing on accelerated progress.

He also underscored ongoing efforts to provide electricity, drinking water, and roads to every village, contrasting these with the shortcomings of the previous administration.

The free education policy is expected to relieve families of financial stress and empower students to pursue higher studies without constraints, contributing to inclusive growth and long‑term development in Odisha.
