Nabarangpur Forester Suspended Over Unauthorized Tree Felling, Financial Irregularities

The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Nabarangpur has suspended Forester Bipin Kumar Harijan on charges of unauthorised felling of eucalyptus trees and financial irregularities.

According to official reports, Harijan, who served as Forester of Mohara Section under Jharigam Range, was found involved in illegal monetary transactions.

A show cause notice was issued on August 1, 2026, but his reply was deemed unsatisfactory.

Subsequently, a report dated August 31, 2026, highlighted circumstantial evidence of misconduct, leading to his suspension on September 18, 2026, under Rule 12 of the O.C.S. (C.C.A) Rules, 1962.

During the suspension period, Harijan’s headquarters will remain at the Nabarangpur Forest Division office.

He is prohibited from leaving without prior permission and will receive subsistence allowance as per Rule 90 of the Orissa Service Code.

This disciplinary action underscores the Forest Department’s commitment to accountability and transparency in safeguarding Odisha’s natural resources.
