Mission Shakti Women Drive Raja Festivities with Peetha on Wheels

Bhubaneswar, June 11: Odisha’s Mission Shakti has infused empowerment into the Raja festivities by launching innovative initiatives that blend tradition with women’s entrepreneurship.

Six Peetha on Wheels vans will serve authentic Odia delicacies such as Arisa, Kakara, Manda, Chakuli, and Poda Pitha, alongside popular snacks like Dahibara, Bara, and Alu Chop.

All food is prepared and marketed by Self‑Help Group (SHG) women, giving them direct access to consumers and expanding their business opportunities.

At the Subhadra Shakti Bazaar, festival visitors can enjoy discounts of 20+10% on handloom products from June 11–16.

The bazaar showcases handloom, handicrafts, millet‑based foods, and organic produce sourced from SHG members across Odisha.

Lifestyle services such as mehendi, hair styling, and nail art are also offered by SHG women trained at the World Skill Centre.

Traditional attractions like Raja swings, Raja paan, and lac bangles add cultural vibrancy, while the initiatives strengthen the market ecosystem for women entrepreneurs.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida highlighted that these efforts not only preserve Odisha’s heritage but also enhance SHG incomes through better market access.
