Kendrapara Headmaster Arrested for ₹5,000 Bribe

Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Raghunath Das, Headmaster of Chadeiguan High School near Mahakalpada in Kendrapara district, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a staff member.

The staffer, who joined in August 2025, had not received his arrears salary because Das failed to forward his attendance sheet to the District Education Office.

After the staffer reported the matter, Vigilance set up a trap and caught Das red‑handed while accepting the bribe.

Officials recovered the bribe money and conducted simultaneous searches at two locations linked to Das to check for disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway.

This arrest highlights Odisha Vigilance’s ongoing drive against corruption in public offices.
