Jharsuguda Police Encounter: Notorious Criminal Injured After Firing at Officers
Jharsuguda district witnessed high drama late Sunday night when police engaged in an encounter near the IB cremation ground under Brajarajnagar police station limits.
Acting on a tip‑off about suspected anti‑social elements, officers rushed to the spot.
On being approached, the suspects attempted to flee.
One of them, identified as Ankit Ghosh (23), allegedly opened fire on the police, discharging nearly five rounds.
In retaliation, police fired four rounds, injuring Ghosh in his right leg.
He was immediately taken to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that no police personnel were
injured during the exchange.
Police described Ghosh as a history‑sheeter with multiple criminal cases registered across Jharsuguda.
Efforts are underway to trace other suspects who managed to escape during the operation.
