Elderly Woman Dies After Wrong Injection in Bolangir, Probe Ordered
Bolangir: A tragic incident unfolded in Karlapita village when 62‑year‑old Kaushalya Panika died after receiving a wrong injection from an unlicensed medical practitioner.
Panika, who was undergoing treatment for a skin infection, collapsed immediately after the injection and was declared dead.
Family members confronted the practitioner, who fled the scene and allegedly offered Rs 1 lakh to suppress the matter.
The body was cremated without a post‑mortem, sparking outrage among locals over rampant illegal medical practices and counterfeit medicines in rural areas.
Bolangir CDMO Dr Pushpanjali Mishra has ordered a detailed probe into the type of injection administered and the circumstances of the death.
