Dense Fog and Cold Wave Alert Issued for Odisha Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a dense fog warning for several districts in Odisha as winter conditions intensify.

On Sunday, December 6, dense fog is expected at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput districts.

In addition, the IMD has forecast cold wave conditions in isolated pockets of Jharsuguda and Angul districts on December 7.

Officials have urged residents to take necessary precautions, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children, who are more susceptible to health risks during extreme cold.

Dense fog is likely to reduce visibility, creating hazards for road travel.

Authorities have advised drivers to exercise extra caution, use fog lights, and avoid speeding during early morning and late evening hours.

Looking ahead, the IMD indicates that foggy conditions will persist, with similar warnings for December 8 in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput.

Residents are encouraged to remain alert and follow safety guidelines to minimise risks during this period of severe winter weather.
