Cyber Saathi Campaign Protects Rath Yatra Devotees from Online Scams
Puri witnessed a unique blend of tradition and technology during Rath Yatra 2026 as Odisha Police’s Cyber Safety and Response Team (CSRT) launched the Cyber Saathi campaign to protect devotees from online frauds.
Between July 12–25, officers visited 104 hotels, sensitising management about fake booking scams and issuing advisories to patch vulnerabilities.
The drive led to the identification and takedown of 81 fake hotel websites/webpages.
The campaign also reached the public directly. Over 12,180 pilgrims and tourists were engaged through pamphlet distribution and awareness sessions.
Additionally, 180 misleading post URLs related to Rath Yatra were removed from social media platforms.
The CSRT addressed practical concerns too, registering 291 missing mobile phone complaints on the CEIR portal during the festival.
Odisha Police urged devotees to verify hotel bookings only through genuine sources and remain vigilant against cyber threats, ensuring a safe and spiritually fulfilling Rath Yatra experience.
