The deceased, identified as 55‑year‑old Bachan Nayak, succumbed to injuries after being shifted to Cuttack for treatment.
The attack occurred as villagers were heading to a pond for sanitation purposes.
Panic spread across the area as the animal continued roaming near Dengoborei and Kandabindha.
The injured were admitted to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
