Chauliaganj IIC Found Dead in Quarters; Probe on

Kataka witnessed a shocking incident on Saturday morning when Inspector‑in‑Charge (IIC) Beauty Mohanty was found hanging in her official quarters at Chauliaganj Police Station.

According to reports, Mohanty had worked at the station until late Friday night but failed to attend the routine roll call this morning. When colleagues checked her quarters around 10 AM, they received no response. The door was broken open in the presence of ACP Sudhanshu Jena, revealing her lifeless body.

The room was immediately sealed, and senior officials, including DCP Khilari Rishikesh, family members, and a scientific team, arrived to collect evidence. Her body was later sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post‑mortem examination.

Mohanty had recently taken charge at Chauliaganj Police Station after serving at Kataka Women’s Police Station, Bhubaneswar, Pahal, and Kataka Markatnagar Police Station. She is survived by her son, while her husband resides outside Kataka.

Colleagues revealed that she suffered from severe migraines, worsened by work pressure, and had applied for a transfer citing health concerns. Family disputes are also suspected to have contributed to her distress. The exact cause of death remains under investigation.
