BJD leader Raghunandan Das seeks anticipatory bail in dog attack case

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), July 5: Raghunandan Das, a prominent BJD leader and former Minister, has moved the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail following accusations that he set his dogs on a woman journalist in Bhubaneswar on June 25.

The Capital Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, prompting Das to take pre-emptive legal action.

The journalist, Chinmayee Sahoo from a TV channel, filed a complaint alleging that Das unleashed his dogs on her while she was filming unauthorized demolition activity near his residence. The incident led to charges under Sections 354, 323, 294, and 506 of the IPC.

In response, Das defended his actions in a video, stating that the journalists had entered his premises without permission, bypassing security measures. He explained that the encounter occurred during preparations to vacate the quarters, adding that the journalists’ behavior towards his household staff further exacerbated the situation.

The case has garnered attention, with Das maintaining his innocence while the investigation progresses.
