Daringbadi-Gajalbadi Ghat Road Reopens for Light Vehicles; Heavy Traffic Still Banned
Phulbani: In a major relief for commuters in Kandhamal district, the district administration has permitted the movement of light motor vehicles on the Daringbadi-Gajalbadi Ghat Road following temporary restoration of the cyclone-damaged stretch.
The road had suffered significant damage due to the impact of Cyclone Arnab, prompting authorities to restrict traffic movement and close the route for safety reasons.
After restoration work was carried out on the affected portion, the administration reviewed the road condition and decided to allow light vehicles to resume operations on the route.
According to an order issued by Kandhamal Collector Vedbhushan, only light motor vehicles will be allowed to ply on the ghat road for the time being, while the movement of heavy vehicles will continue to remain prohibited until further orders.
District authorities have directed officials concerned, including the police and National Highways authorities, to ensure strict enforcement of the restriction and maintain road safety.
The temporary reopening is expected to ease transportation challenges faced by residents and travellers in the region.
However, commuters have been advised to exercise caution while using the route, as restoration and monitoring activities continue.
The restriction on heavy vehicles will remain in force until the road is considered fully safe for all categories of traffic.
