Camera Captures Elusive Tiger in Koraput as Authorities Launch Tracking Operation

Koraput: The presence of a tiger in Odisha’s Semiliguda-Sunabeda region has been confirmed after forest officials obtained camera trap footage and discovered evidence linked to a buffalo kill near Jharaput.

The development has prompted the Forest Department to increase surveillance in the area amid growing concern among local residents.

According to forest authorities, the tiger’s movement was detected through camera traps installed in the region, while field staff also identified footprints and other signs indicating the animal’s presence.

The killing of a buffalo further strengthened evidence that the big cat is roaming in and around the forested landscape.

In response, the Forest Department has intensified monitoring efforts and deployed teams to track the tiger’s movement.

Round-the-clock patrolling is being conducted in multiple shifts, supported by a Rapid Response Team tasked with ensuring public safety and managing any emergency situation.

Officials have urged residents of nearby villages to remain alert and avoid venturing into forest fringes alone, particularly during early morning and evening hours.

At the same time, authorities have appealed to the public not to panic, assuring that necessary precautions are being taken to monitor the animal and prevent human-wildlife conflict.

The confirmed tiger presence has attracted significant attention in the region, highlighting the need for continued wildlife conservation and effective management measures to ensure the safety of both local communities and the animal.

Forest officials are continuing their efforts to trace the tiger and assess its movement pattern.
