Youth Found Dead Near Canal in Bhubaneswar, Family Alleges Murder
Bhubaneswar, June 17: Tension gripped Anantpur village after the body of youth Prabhat Behera was discovered near a canal along the Nakhra–Sundarpur road. Police recovered a scooter, beer bottles, a plastic pipe, and a rope from the site, with visible injuries on the victim’s head and mouth.
Family members alleged murder, claiming Prabhat was called out late at night by local sand trader Tennis Patra. When both men could not be reached, suspicions deepened. Relatives and villagers staged a road blockade demanding arrests before the post‑mortem, disrupting traffic until police intervened.
Authorities have detained Tennis Patra for questioning and are searching for other suspects. Forensic experts are analyzing evidence to determine the cause of death. Police assured that all angles will be investigated thoroughly.
