Similipal Deploys 20+ Camera Traps to Track Tigress Zeenat & Cubs
Similipal Tiger Reserve authorities have intensified monitoring efforts for tigress Zeenat and her four cubs by deploying over 20 camera traps across a 20‑km radius.
Zeenat, who gave birth in the southern core zone, has since moved with her cubs into both core and buffer areas of the northern division. To ensure close observation without disturbing the animals, officials are combining radio‑collar tracking with camera trap imagery.
Deputy Director (Similipal North) Ramesh Kumar confirmed that all four cubs are healthy and under the tigress’s attentive care. He emphasized that utmost caution is being exercised during monitoring to safeguard the family’s natural behavior.
This initiative highlights the reserve’s commitment to wildlife conservation and the protection of big cats in Odisha’s forests.
