Umerkote Police Rescue Three Tribal Women from Suspected Trafficking Racket
Nabarangpur district police successfully rescued three tribal women from Kurshi village in Umerkote block, suspected to be victims of a human trafficking racket.
The women were allegedly lured with promises of lucrative jobs in Tamil Nadu without informing their families.
Acting on complaints filed by relatives, police tracked the women’s mobile phones and conducted a raid in Borigaon village of Dabugaon block, where they had been staying temporarily.
While the women were rescued safely, the broker involved managed to escape.
Authorities suspect the incident is part of a larger trafficking network targeting vulnerable tribal communities.
Investigations are underway to determine whether the women were also being misled with false employment offers in Tripura.
Police have intensified search operations to apprehend the broker and dismantle the racket.
