Odisha Floods: 432 Schools Shut in Jajpur & Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rains and widespread waterlogging have prompted district administrations in Jajpur and Bhadrak to order emergency school closures, affecting over 430 institutions.

In Jajpur, 91 schools—including government, aided, and private institutions—were shut on September 28, 2026.

While unaffected schools continue to function, several closed campuses are being repurposed as shelters and rehabilitation centres for flood‑hit families.

In Bhadrak, authorities suspended classes in 341 schools across six blocks: Dhamnagar, Bhadrak, Bhandaripokhari, Tihidi, Basudevpur, and Chandbali.

Officials emphasised that student safety remains the top priority and urged parents and staff to follow official advisories.

The reopening timeline will depend on how quickly water levels recede and conditions stabilise.

Meanwhile, district administrations are coordinating relief operations to support affected communities.
