Sundargarh: Diarrhoea Outbreak Claims Two Lives, Over 30 Hospitalised

Nuadihi village in Hemgir block of Sundargarh district has been gripped by a diarrhoea outbreak, leaving two dead and more than 30 others ill.

Thirteen patients are currently undergoing treatment at Hemgir Hospital, while four critically ill individuals have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Health officials confirmed that contaminated food consumed during a local feast triggered severe diarrhoea and vomiting among villagers.

A medical team has been stationed in the village, and another district‑level team will conduct a detailed assessment.

Preventive measures have been swiftly implemented. All village water sources have been disinfected, and restrictions on movement have been imposed to contain the spread.

Authorities have urged residents to strictly follow hygiene guidelines to prevent further escalation.

The district administration is closely monitoring the situation, treating it as a public health emergency.
