Sudarsan Pattnaik’s Sand Veena Honors Asha Bhosle at Puri Beach

Puri, April 12: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who recently passed away at the age of 93, by creating a 20-foot-long ‘Veena’ sand sculpture at Puri Beach.

The artwork features a detailed sand portrait of Asha Bhosle, a large vinyl record, and inscriptions such as “Tribute to Asha Tai” and “Your voice will live in our hearts forever.” The installation drew crowds of visitors, who admired both the craftsmanship and the emotional sentiment behind the tribute.

This artistic homage comes amid nationwide mourning for Asha Bhosle, whose career spanned seven decades with thousands of songs across multiple languages.

Her last rites are scheduled at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, on Monday at 4 pm. Pattnaik’s sculpture symbolises her timeless contribution to Indian music, ensuring her voice continues to inspire generations.
