Sambalpur’s Sital Sasthi 2026: 7,500 Artistes, ₹2.2 Cr Budget
Sambalpur, Odisha: The city is preparing for one of its grandest celebrations as the Sital Sasthi Festival 2026 kicks off on June 14 with the Patrapendi ritual.
The divine wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati will be solemnised on June 18, followed by the homecoming procession on June 19–20.
This year’s festival will see participation from over 7,500 artistes representing Odisha and several other states, showcasing folk dances, tribal traditions, and mythological tableaux.
Three major organising committees are leading the festivities:
- Nandapada Committee with a Rs 90 lakh budget, featuring Maha Mangal Aarti, fireworks, and cultural troupes from Kerala, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, and West Bengal.
- Jhaduapada Committee with a Rs 75–80 lakh budget, highlighting Mahakal floats, Nrusingha tableaux, and Putana Badh presentations.
- Modipada Committee with a Rs 50 lakh budget, presenting Ghanta, Dulduli, Ghumura, and Ranapa dances, alongside an environmental theme “Save Tree.”
The combined festival budget has risen to Rs 2.2 crore, up from Rs 1.7 crore in 2025, with the Odisha government contributing Rs 1.08 crore across 21 committees.
Beyond devotion, the festival emphasises cultural heritage and environmental awareness, making it a vibrant blend of spirituality, tradition, and social consciousness.
