Sambalpur Police Encounter: Veteran Criminal Injured in Firing
Sambalpur police intercepted notorious criminal Md. Irfan, accused in over 24 cases, near Sudunga forest early Sunday morning.
Irfan, riding a black Bajaj Pulsar with two associates, attempted to flee when confronted.
While his associates were apprehended, Irfan allegedly fired three rounds at police before being shot in the leg during retaliatory fire.
Authorities recovered a pistol, ammunition, three empty cartridges, and the motorcycle used in the incident.
Irfan was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, for treatment.
Police confirmed his involvement in multiple serious offences, including robbery, dacoity, wire theft, burglary, and narcotics cases. Investigations are ongoing.
