Republic Day Parade 2026: Bhubaneswar Traffic Restrictions, Diversions, and Parking Plan
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has issued detailed traffic restrictions ahead of the Republic Day Parade 2026 to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and public safety.
Traffic curbs will be enforced on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and adjoining areas during rehearsals on January 22 and 23 from 1 PM to 6 PM, and on January 24 from 6 AM to 11:30 AM. On Republic Day (January 26), restrictions will remain in place from 6 AM until the parade concludes.
Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Master Canteen Square from the Ram Mandir or Rajmahal side.
Two-wheelers and light vehicles may move from the Rajmahal side to the Ram Mandir side via Master Canteen Square, but no vehicles will be permitted towards PMG Square during the parade.
Diversions have been planned at key junctions, including Keshari Talkies crossing, Jaydev Bhawan Square, and MLA Colony crossing.
All connecting lanes to Mahatma Gandhi Marg will be sealed, allowing only pedestrian movement.
Designated parking areas include the BDA Bus Stand near the Railway Station, the Congress Bhawan open space, IDCOL Auditorium, Jaydev Bhawan, SBI Unit-III, the Rabindra Mandap, and the Unit-II Girls’ High School Ground.
Additionally, the sale of gas balloons between PMG Square and Master Canteen Square will be prohibited on January 26 from 6 AM until the parade ends. Violators will face action under Section 96 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate and plan their travel routes in advance to avoid inconvenience.
