Paradip Port Becomes Safe Haven for Andhra Fishermen Amid Bay of Bengal Depression

Paradip Port in Odisha turned into a refuge for 28 fishing trawlers from Andhra Pradesh carrying 248 fishermen, as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified rough sea conditions.

The trawlers sought shelter after being caught in turbulent waters near the Odisha–Andhra coast.

Authorities at Paradip Port have hoisted Local Cautionary Signal No. 3, restricted vessel entry into the harbour, and regulated port operations to ensure safety.

Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the depression was last tracked about 150 km south of Gopalpur and is expected to cross near Kalingapatnam tonight.

Wind speeds of 55–65 kmph, gusting up to 75 kmph, are likely over the sea, raising concerns for coastal communities.
