Odisha Vigilance Seizes ₹2.33 Lakh Cash from Forest Officer in Rayagada

Rayagada, April 12: In a major anti‑corruption drive, Odisha Vigilance officials intercepted Forest Range Officer Sukumar Dukhu near Indravati Bridge in Nabarangpur while he was travelling in his official Bolero vehicle.

During the raid, the team recovered Rs 2.33 lakh in suspected unaccounted cash, which the officer failed to satisfactorily explain.

The vigilance squad seized both the cash and the official vehicle (registration number OD18KRs 7041).

Following the interception, simultaneous searches were conducted at three locations linked to the officer as part of a disproportionate assets (DA) investigation.

Officials confirmed that the probe will examine possible misuse of official position and accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.

The case underscores Odisha Vigilance’s intensified crackdown on corruption and ill-got wealth among government officials, with further legal action expected based on investigation findings.
