Odisha Launches Digital Census, Over 90,000 Enumerators Deployed
Bhubaneswar, April 16: The long-awaited Digital Census 2026 has officially begun across Odisha today and will continue until May 15.
More than 90,000 primary school teachers have been appointed as enumerators, supported by 15,140 high school teachers serving as supervisors.
Each enumerator is tasked with covering 200–220 households, numbering homes and collecting data from family heads through 33 structured questions on housing, electricity, water, sanitation, and other key indicators.
For the first time, the census is being conducted entirely via a mobile application, ensuring faster and more accurate data collection.
Citizens who submitted details online between April 1–15 will have their entries verified during door-to-door visits.
This exercise marks India’s first census since 2011, providing crucial data for policy-making, resource allocation, and development programs.
\Authorities have urged the public to cooperate fully to ensure reliable results.
