CM Mohan Charan Majhi to Lay Foundation of Barbil Bypass and Ring Road Project
Barbil — Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to inaugurate the ambitious Barbil Bypass and Ring Road project today, a development expected to transform the region’s mining and steel industries.
The project, spanning 18.3 kilometres in length and 60 meters in width, will ease the transportation of iron ore to steel plants.
Currently, trucks carrying ore to West Bengal and Jharkhand often remain stranded for hours due to “no-entry” restrictions. Once completed, the bypass will provide seamless movement, benefiting truck operators and businesses linked to mining and steel production.
The bypass will pass through 15 villages and two protected forest areas, utilising 251.724 acres of land.
The estimated construction cost stands at 2,300 crore, while land acquisition requires an additional 527 crore.
Authorities highlight that the project will not only boost industrial supply chains but also reduce road accidents and pollution by diverting heavy vehicles away from the city.
Local residents and businesses are optimistic that the bypass will accelerate regional growth and provide long-term benefits to the mining belt.
According to official sources, the project is expected to be completed swiftly, marking a significant milestone in Odisha’s infrastructure development.
