13 Teachers in Rayagada Face Show-Cause Notices for Late Attendance
Rayagada, April 12: The Block Education Office (BEO) in Gudari, Rayagada district, has issued show‑cause notices to 13 teachers for repeatedly arriving late to school, sparking a debate on discipline and accountability in Odisha’s education system.
On April 10, teachers were observed heading to schools from Gudari town even after classes had begun at 6:30 a.m. BEO Lokanath Suna, acting on a report from additional BEO Rupamajhi, personally witnessed teachers outside MK Rai School during school hours.
The teachers have been directed to respond within three days, failing which disciplinary action will follow. The BEO has warned that future violations will invite strict measures.
The move has been welcomed by punctual teachers and community members as a step toward restoring discipline.
Meanwhile, the Gudari Teachers’ Association, led by Subash Chandra Gauda, urged teachers to respect school timings and announced a delegation meeting with the BEO on Monday to discuss the matter further.
This action underscores Odisha’s push for greater accountability in schools, highlighting the importance of punctuality in maintaining educational standards.
