Pravati Parida Calls 33% Women’s Reservation a Historic Milestone
Bhubaneswar, April 12: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has described the 33% Women’s Reservation Bill as a landmark measure that will empower women and give India a new direction.
Speaking at a press meet, Parida highlighted women’s journey from self-help groups to entrepreneurs (“Lakhpati Didis”), noting that women now outnumber men in voter participation.
She emphasised that the upcoming special Parliament session (April 16–18) will focus on women’s empowerment and the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which ensures one‑third representation for women in Parliament and state assemblies by 2029.
Parida praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritising women’s development since taking office, and urged citizens to support the initiative by giving a missed call to 9667173333 and joining rallies, scooter processions, and public meetings.
The press meet was also attended by BJP Mahila Morcha state president Dr Ashrita Biswal, Aska MP Anita Subhadra, and Kasturi Mishra, reinforcing the party’s commitment to advancing women’s rights.
This initiative is being framed as a cornerstone for achieving a developed India by 2047, with Odisha leaders actively promoting its significance.
