Odisha Vigilance Arrests Khordha PEO for ₹11.28 Lakh Pension Fund Fraud

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Dillip Kumar Pradhan, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Ratanpur Gram Panchayat in Khordha district, for allegedly embezzling Rs 11.28 lakh under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY).

According to officials, the misappropriation occurred between January 2023 and July 2024, when Pradhan was posted at Balipatna Panchayat Samiti.

Funds meant for elderly and vulnerable beneficiaries in Pampalo and Rajas Gram Panchayats were diverted instead of being disbursed.

A case has been registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 6 dated 06.04.2026) under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and Section 316(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Pradhan was produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, while further investigation is underway.

The incident has raised serious concerns about corruption in welfare schemes designed to support the most vulnerable sections of society, undermining trust in grassroots governance.
