Odisha Targets 100% Village Piped Water by 2027

The Odisha government has reported significant progress in its mission to provide safe drinking water across rural areas.

Out of 207 mega piped water supply projects, 33 have been completed, covering 2,402 villages.

Fourteen more projects are expected to be finished by the end of May 2026, benefiting an additional 1,331 villages. Partial work on 35 projects has already extended services to 3,210 villages.

Alongside mega projects, 18,552 single village schemes are operational, while 6,369 solar-powered piped water projects have been completed.

To address scarcity, 37,876 tube wells have been approved since 2024, and 629 tankers are supplying water to vulnerable areas this year.

The state has also opened 8,281 water kiosks across rural regions.

Currently, 20,875 villages have a piped water supply, with 7,042 villages benefiting from stand posts.

Minister Rabi Narayan Naik reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring piped water in every village by March 2027.
