Odisha Reviews Gangua Nala Development Project in Bhubaneswar | Stormwater & Beautification Drive

The Odisha Government has intensified efforts to restore and upgrade the Gangua Nala in Bhubaneswar, with Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra chairing a high-level review meeting at Kharavela Bhavan.

The meeting focused on strengthening stormwater management and improving the surroundings of Nicco Park.

Legislator Babu Singh, Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, BMC Commissioner-cum-BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana, and senior officials attended the session.

Minister Mahapatra directed officials to accelerate the pace of work and ensure visible changes before the upcoming monsoon.

He emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts to restore the nala, maintain clean water flow, and enhance recreational and social facilities around Nicco Park.

Usha Padhee highlighted the need for seamless coordination among multiple agencies engaged in the project, while Chanchal Rana presented details of ongoing works, challenges, and proposed timelines.

The minister instructed officials to resolve pending issues quickly and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe, maintaining quality standards.

The review underscored the significance of the Gangua Nala project in creating a safe, clean, and accessible urban environment for Bhubaneswar residents.

The government aims to integrate flood management with urban beautification, ensuring both safety and community benefits.
