Odisha Police to Launch Major Recruitment Drive for 26,000 Vacancies

Odisha Police is grappling with a massive manpower shortage, with nearly 26,000 posts lying vacant across the force.

To address this challenge, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the creation of 17,000 new posts, paving the way for one of the largest recruitment drives in recent years.

Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania confirmed that the recruitment process is expected to begin soon, aiming to fill both newly sanctioned and existing vacant positions.

Officials believe this move will significantly strengthen law enforcement capacity, improve public safety, and reduce the workload on current personnel.

The recruitment drive is also expected to generate thousands of employment opportunities for aspiring candidates across Odisha.

Strengthening the police force aligns with the state’s broader strategy to modernise policing and enhance service delivery in both urban and rural areas.
