Odisha Govt to Use 1978 List for Ratna Bhandar Inventory
The Odisha government has announced that the upcoming inventory of the Ratna Bhandar, the sacred treasury of Puri Srimandir, will be conducted using the 1978 list as the reference point.
Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan stated that while a fresh record will be prepared, it will remain confidential and preserved for future generations, in line with temple traditions.
The treasury, which houses priceless ornaments embedded with pearls, rubies, and other gemstones, will be documented through 3D mapping, photography, and videography.
The exercise is scheduled to begin after Durga Puja and is expected to conclude before the month of Margashira.
Officials emphasised that secrecy is essential to respect the sanctity of Lord Jagannath’s rituals.
The new record is expected to remain intact for 100–300 years until another inventory is undertaken.
