Odisha Govt Sends Senior Health Officials to Flood-Hit Districts
The Odisha government has deployed senior Health Department officials to oversee post-flood health management in the worst-affected districts.
The move aims to strengthen disease prevention, sanitation, and healthcare continuity in vulnerable areas.
Officials have been assigned specific districts: Dr Bijay Mishra to Baleshwar, Dr Rabindra Mishra to Bhadrak, Dr Rajendra Panigrahi to Kendujhar, and Dr M. M. Panda to Jajpur.
Their responsibilities include monitoring sanitation drives, ensuring safe drinking water, maintaining medicine stocks, and coordinating uninterrupted healthcare services.
The administration has prioritised disinfection of submerged villages, cleaning of public spaces, and removal of spoiled food and animal carcasses left behind by floodwaters.
Field-level surveillance will be maintained to detect and manage water-borne and communicable diseases at the earliest.
This proactive deployment underscores the government’s focus on safeguarding public health in the aftermath of the floods.
