Odisha Minister Reviews CSIR‑IMMT Research, Calls for Technology‑Driven Mineral Value Addition
Odisha Science & Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra visited CSIR‑Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) in Bhubaneswar to review ongoing research and technology development.
During his visit, Patra emphasised the importance of making scientific research more application‑oriented, ensuring innovations translate into industrial and economic benefits for the state.
He highlighted the need for value addition to Odisha’s mineral wealth by processing resources within the state and adopting modern technologies.
Stressing environmental sustainability, Patra underscored the reuse of industrial waste and the development of eco‑friendly industries.
The minister also called for stronger collaboration between research institutions and industries to ensure commercial application of developed technologies.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to leveraging science and technology for industrial growth, employment generation, and optimal use of natural resources.
Symbolically, Patra planted a Parijat tree at the institute, reflecting the balance between scientific progress and environmental responsibility.
He linked these efforts to the BJP‑led government’s vision of building a “Viksit Odisha” by connecting science, technology, natural resources, industries, and youth.
