Odisha Govt Mandates 21-Day Prior Notice for Officials’ Travel

The Odisha Finance Department has issued a directive making it mandatory for government employees and officers to seek prior permission before leaving their headquarters.

The order emphasises that officials must obtain sanctioned leave before travelling outside the state or abroad for personal reasons.

According to the notification, applications for such travel must be submitted at least 21 days in advance, except in emergencies.

The move comes after authorities observed that many officers were either travelling without prior sanction or applying for leave at the last moment, causing administrative challenges.

The directive has been circulated to key offices, including the Sales Tax Tribunal, CT & GST Commissioner, Director of MDRAFM, Controller of Accounts, Local Fund Audit, and Treasuries & Inspection.

Heads of offices have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the new guidelines.
