Odisha Governor Pushes Army–Academia Ties for Defence Innovation
Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati has called for stronger collaboration between the Army Air Defence College (AADC) at Gopalpur and educational institutions across the state to advance defence research, innovation, and skill development.
During a review meeting, the Governor suggested that engineering students should be given exposure to AADC’s advanced laboratories to gain practical insights into defence technologies.
He described AADC as India’s premier defence training institution and emphasised its role in strengthening national preparedness.
The meeting also discussed several development initiatives, including green campus projects, electric buses in military stations, and light electric ambulances for patient transport.
Dr Kambhampati highlighted the importance of civil–military cooperation, urging better coordination between AADC, district administration, and the State Government.
Other key issues reviewed included:
- A proposed MoU with MKCG Medical College for priority healthcare to armed forces personnel.
- Land compensation for martyrs’ families.
- Army contingents’ participation in Independence Day and Republic Day parades.
- Education and rehabilitation for children with special needs in Ganjam district.
- Addressing waterlogging in villages near Gopalpur Military Station.
Senior Army officers, state officials, district administration, and private sector representatives attended the meeting, underscoring the collective effort to strengthen defence research and community development in Odisha.
