Odisha Governor Launches Coffee Table Book Honoring Suresh Prabhu’s Legacy

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati unveiled a coffee table book chronicling the life and contributions of former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu at a ceremony in Bhubaneswar.

The Governor praised Prabhu’s visionary leadership and enduring role in nation‑building, noting that he is remembered more for his ideas and values than the offices he held.

He highlighted Prabhu’s pivotal role in the Task Force on Interlinking of Rivers (2002) under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which laid the foundation for India’s river‑linking programme.

Dr Kambhampati also recalled Prabhu’s 26‑year parliamentary career and his stewardship of key ministries including Power, Railways, Commerce & Industry, and Civil Aviation.

He credited Prabhu with reforms that modernised the Railways, improved transparency, and enhanced passenger services through technology.

The Governor further emphasised Prabhu’s contributions to energy policy, trade, diplomacy, and his role as India’s Sherpa to the G20 and G7.

Compiled by editor Sabyasachee Dash, the book documents Prabhu’s journey in public life and his policy innovations.

In his response, Prabhu thanked the Governor, lauded Odisha’s development trajectory, and noted the state’s abundant resources and growth potential.

Former State Information Commissioner Jagadananda and ICC Odisha Chairman Rajib Sahoo also addressed the gathering.
