Odisha Police Introduces e‑Zero FIR System to Combat Cyber Financial Frauds

Bhubaneswar: In a major step towards technology‑driven policing, Odisha Police has rolled out the e‑Zero FIR system to streamline the handling of cyber financial fraud cases.

The initiative, launched by the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), integrates the National Cybercrime Helpline 1930 with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS).

Under the new system, complaints of fraud worth Rs 10 lakh and above reported through Helpline 1930 will automatically generate e-Zero FIR requests.

These will be routed to the Cyber Police Station, Crime Branch, where officers can register a regular FIR, transfer the complaint, link it to an existing case, or close it if criteria are not met.

Officials highlighted that the system eliminates duplicate data entry, accelerates case registration, and enhances coordination among agencies.

Importantly, complainants will now be able to track the status of their cases online.

Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania urged citizens to promptly report cyber financial frauds through Helpline 1930, stressing that early reporting is crucial to prevent further losses.
