Jamtara Cyber Gang Link: Woman Among 6 Held in Kendujhar Robbery

Bhubaneswar/Kendujhar: Barbil police have arrested six individuals, including a woman allegedly linked to the infamous Jamtara cyber fraud gang, in connection with a robbery case in Kendujhar district.

The woman, identified as Chandrabati Patra of Thakurani, is accused of purchasing stolen mobile phones and using them to access victims’ UPI and banking apps for fraudulent transactions.

The arrests followed a complaint by a truck driver who was attacked near Raida Chhak on June 4, with his phone and cash stolen.

His device was later used to siphon over Rs 1 lakh from his account.

During raids, police recovered 12 mobile phones, 24 bank passbooks, and 26 SIM cards from Patra’s residence.

Five other suspects were nabbed while allegedly planning a dacoity in Joda, with weapons seized from their possession.

Authorities are investigating whether the group is connected to other robbery and cyber fraud cases across Odisha.
