Odisha CM Grievance Hearings Cancelled on May 18 & 25 Due to Heatwave

Bhubaneswar, May 15: The Odisha government has announced the suspension of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Jana Abhiyog Sunani (public grievance hearings) scheduled for May 18 and May 25, 2026, citing severe heatwave conditions across the state.

According to the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, the decision was taken to safeguard citizens and staff from extreme temperatures that have gripped Odisha in recent days.

The department further clarified that fresh dates for the hearings will be notified later through newspapers and mass media.

The Jana Abhiyog Sunani programme has been a vital platform for citizens to directly present complaints and grievances to the Chief Minister.

The temporary suspension highlights the administration’s prioritisation of public safety during adverse weather events.
