Odisha CM Announces ₹1,000‑Crore Flood Relief Package
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled a Rs 1,000-crore, ten-point relief package to support communities devastated by recent floods across Odisha.
The package, which may be expanded after final damage assessments, prioritises farmers, artisans, and households that suffered extensive losses.
Farmers with crop damage exceeding 33% will receive compensation ranging from Rs 8,500 per hectare for non-irrigated land to Rs 22,500 per hectare for annual crops.
Additional support includes free vegetable mini‑kits, seed distribution, and a 75% subsidy for pest‑related crop damage.
Damaged lift‑irrigation projects will be repaired on a priority basis.
The package also covers financial aid for livestock, ponds, boats, and nets, while short‑term kharif loans will be converted into medium‑term agricultural loans.
Artisans will receive Rs 5,000 each, and households will be compensated for damaged clothing and essential items.
Relief measures such as cooked food, dry rations, and rice distribution will continue until normalcy is restored.
Six districts—Jajpur, Bhadrak, Baleshwar, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj, and Kendujhar—have been severely affected, impacting 74 blocks, 1,381 villages, and more than 9.4 lakh people.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with 45 ODRAF and 8 NDRF teams deployed.
The Chief Minister emphasised that “zero casualty” remains the government’s target, noting that preparedness has prevented loss of life.
