Rayagada Police Bust Robbery Gang: 12 Arrested With Gold, Vehicles
Rayagada district police have successfully dismantled an inter‑district robbery gang, arresting 12 members in a coordinated operation across multiple locations.
Under the supervision of SP Raj Prasad, special teams led by SDPOs Gourahari Sahu and Babuli Nayak raided hideouts with support from Rayagada, Tikiri, Gunupur, Andirakanch, Doraguda, and Chandili police stations, along with intelligence, raid, and cyber units.
The crackdown led to the recovery of 240 grams of gold, 581 grams of silver, 12 mobile phones, burglary tools, and vehicles including an Ertiga, Bolero Neo, Chevrolet car, and a Royal Enfield Bullet.
Police revealed that the gang specialised in targeting locked houses, breaking doors with equipment, and melting stolen ornaments to disguise them before pledging or selling them at low prices.
The arrested individuals hail from Rayagada, Kashipur, Chandili, Tikiri, and Kalyansinghpur, with over 15 prior cases registered against them in Rayagada, Koraput, and Nabarangpur districts.
All accused have been produced in court, marking a significant breakthrough in curbing organised burglary in southern Odisha.
