Odisha CM Announces ₹110 Crore Flood Relief Package
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced an initial Rs 110 crore relief package to support families and farmers affected by the recent floods across Odisha.
Immediate assistance has been directed to ensure timely rehabilitation.
According to official reports, 22 districts, 85 blocks, and 1,458 villages have been impacted, affecting over 8.63 lakh people. Nearly 2.67 lakh individuals have been relocated to safer areas.
The relief package includes compensation for families of six deceased persons, financial aid for damaged houses, and crop loss assistance.
Families of the deceased will receive Rs 24 lakh from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
Fully collapsed houses will be compensated up to Rs 1.2 lakh, while partially damaged kutcha houses will receive Rs 4,000 and huts Rs 8,000.
Farmers suffering crop losses will be compensated at Rs 8,500 per hectare for non-irrigated land, Rs 17,000 per hectare for irrigated land, and Rs 22,500 per hectare for perennial crops such as mango, coconut, and banana.
Earlier, Rs 26 crore had already been released for immediate relief and rescue operations.
Agriculture and revenue officials are conducting surveys in areas where floodwaters have receded to assess the extent of damage.
