Odisha Boosts Fertiliser Supply Amid Kharif Surge, Chief Secretary Leads Statewide Review

In a decisive move to ensure timely fertiliser availability for farmers, Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja convened a high-level review meeting with District Collectors and senior officials at Lok Seva Bhawan.

The meeting, held virtually across districts, focused on streamlining fertiliser distribution in light of increased agricultural activity driven by a favourable monsoon.

Odisha has already received 11.33 lakh metric tonnes of fertilisers for the Kharif 2025 season—surpassing its projected requirement of 10 lakh metric tonnes.

With 9.16 lakh metric tonnes sold and 2.07 lakh metric tonnes in stock, the state marks a 20% supply increase over last year’s figures.

Officials from the Agriculture and Cooperation Departments, including Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee and Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, emphasized proactive monitoring and equitable distribution.

District Collectors were directed to conduct field-level assessments, prevent hoarding, and ensure prompt delivery to PACS and LAMPS.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed railway rake point deliveries and stressed aligning fertiliser supply with registered farmer data and land holdings.

Fertiliser companies and Markfed were instructed to maintain adequate stocks and storage infrastructure to meet rising demand.

This strategic push aims to safeguard crop productivity and support Odisha’s farmers during a critical agricultural window.
